VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Luana’s volunteering story – Having just moved here from Brazil, Luana signed up to volunteer with Helium Arts to meet some friends while doing something she loved, Graphic Designing. But volunteering has not only given Luana an opportunity to do work that she loves, but also it has shaped her life here. “Thanks to Helium I met some great people, my networking has increased, it helped me to get a job in Ireland and I feel good about helping so many people while doing what I love,” Luana said. ABOUT CREATIVE HEALTH HUBS
Helium Arts’ Creative Health Hub in Limerick proposes to employ an artist to be called a Creative Associate to establish a programme of work between the hospital (paediatric outpatients) and local arts/community/resource centres, facilitating creative group engagement/projects with children living with long-term illness.  The Hub can increase local access to the arts for this marginalised group of children aged 5-18 years through a coordinated approach across arts groups and health organisations. This can be done by building strategic partnerships at a local level between Local Authority Arts Offices and the HSE Community Health Organisation, between patient support groups, local arts/community venues and local arts organisations, and with third level institutions who can bring resources such as research opportunities and student internships. www.helium.ie
