The Storytellers’ New Gambit pilots this Autumn

The Storytellers’ New Gambit, Helium’s storytelling and technology performance project for children in hospital, will pilot this autumn at a children’s hospital in Dublin. Storytellers Eléonore Nicolas and Fiona Dowling held a workshop in June with music and digital artists Fionnuala Conway and Mark Linnane to brainstorm the design of an interactive storytelling dress that will make the children go ‘wow’ when they first see it.

The dress will have an embedded soundscape, activating music and sound effects as Eléonore and Fiona tell the children stories. During the workshop, the storytellers experimented with recordings of actual sounds (water falling, bells ringing), thumb piano tunes and famous pieces of music. You can read all about it on The Storytellers’ New Gambit blog.

The Storytellers’ New Gambit has been financed through the crowdfunding site Fund:It. Learn more about the development of the project and view a wonderful animation by Eléonore and Fiona here.
