Helium Arts partners with UCD Paediatric Society on their first Teddy Bear Hospital
In April, Helium Arts were delighted to be event partners on UCD Paediatric Society’s first Teddy Bear Hospital which took place in Dublin for both the Girls’ and Boys’ St Vincent National Schools, with over 70 children attending on the day.
Children were first invited into a ‘waiting room’ where they were introduced to a cleaning lady clown who discovered that the teddies had all contracted a contagious squeak. The children and their teddies then hopped into a cardboard ambulance and drove to Teddy Hospital where they met a variety of doctors who were more than happy to help.
Teddies received name bands and medical charts custom-designed by the children and then moved on to experience various medical procedures and treatments as well as healthy living tips as they moved from station to station.
The aim of the Teddy Bear Hospital is to alleviate childhood anxiety about the medical environment, its procedures and the professionals that work within it through imaginative and creative play which provides education, preparation, and positive experiences and memories.
