Call for volunteers! Interactive film event at The Sugar Club

Helium Arts is looking for volunteers to take part in Planet of the Capes, an interactive film and music showcase at The Sugar Club in Dublin on 1 April 2017.


About the Event 

Teenagers from CanTeen Ireland, the national young people’s cancer support group, will premiere their new superheroes film, Planet of the Capes, at The Sugar Club in Dublin on Saturday 1 April 2017. The film was created with mentorship from professional artists on Helium’s community film project.

The Planet of the Capes event will include live music by Seán Carpio with the young people, companion films by project artists and superheroic arts activities curated with artist Siobhán Clancy. The event is free and ticketing is through Eventbrite.

Call for Volunteers

Planet of the Capes is an interactive showcase. We are looking for volunteers to take on activator and event installation roles on the day. Costumes will be provided!

Artist volunteers required:
Install venue decorations prepared beforehand per instruction
Manage the transformation station, transforming visitors into superheroes!
Operate a photo booth helping attendees take superhero selfies for sharing online

Volunteers required:
Usher – meet, greet, hand out programmes, direct attendees towards activities
Cloakroom attendant – take the coats, hand out superhero cloaks
Popcorn and sweet treat sellers – dispensing free treats from trays like in the old picture houses!

Date: Saturday 1st April 2017
Venue: The Sugar Club, 8 Lower Lesson Street, Dublin 2
Time needed: 10am-3pm

Induction and installation will take place at 10am on the day in The Sugar Club. The event will take place from 1-2.30pm.
