Helium Arts’ Remote Teen Summer Camp
This summer, we are delighted to announce our new ‘Wild and Wonderful Forms’ remote teen summer camp which will take place on the 9, 11 & 14 August, 2021. Over the course of this 3-day pilot teen summer camp, you will receive activities that encourage creativity and connect you with other young people who have similar life experiences.
As well as exploring your own creativity and participation as part of the programme, you will be assisting us to refine the format of this programme so that we know what works best for you and other young people in the future.
Multidisciplinary visual artist, Yvonne Cullivan will work with 30 young people to explore the theme of life-forms through a range of visual arts processes. This course will combine online and remote activities and will provide opportunities for young people to connect together through fun creative challenges.
The creative journey will allow participants to look at themselves and the individual worlds they live in, and to invent new versions of both through playful approaches to hands-on making. Participants will receive art materials by post along with inspirational digital resources, demos, and tips from the artist. All of this input will help participants to develop their own response to the theme. They will create their own artwork through drawing, colour, photography, collage and various kinds of animation.
The artist will facilitate small online groups for exploration and sharing of ideas and there will be options to either work alone or to drop into an online group session to work alongside the artist and other participants. Participants will explore ways to share their work and the whole group will reunite on the final day for a celebration of the weird and wonderful results.
