Youth Advisory Group Update

What have YAG been up to this year?

 YAG have been part of so many exciting projects this year, you can get an  update on what they’ve been up to here!

At the end of 2023 Helium Arts appointed a Youth Participation and Engagement Coordinator. The YPE Coordinator has been working closely with YAG throughout this year to ensure our young people’s voices are heard within Helium Arts and beyond. In 2024 YAG has been working on a number of creative projects alongside artists Ciara Keegan and John Conway, including a zine project in which they explore their lived experiences with illness and the power of their voices. YAG were also part of the planning and delivery of the  launch of our Helium Arts Dublin programme in June of this year. The young people co-wrote and delivered a speech at the launch where they spoke about the impact Helium Arts has had on their lives and the importance of creative expression and community. Their speech was the highlight of the Dublin launch for many of us, and due to its success YAG have been invited to deliver a speech at the Social Entrepreneurs Ireland 20th anniversary this Autumn.

YAG have also been working closely on developing Helium Arts first Youth Participation Framework alongside our YPE Coordinator. This Framework will help us develop our work in youth participation and ensure young people’s voices are part of everything we do across all levels of the organisation.

The YAG are really excited for what’s to come next, and passionate about sharing their opinions and knowledge to enrich the work of Helium Arts.
