Franciszek has always loved sketching, but Helium has opened him up to so much more. Through the workshops he’s gained new experiences and built creative and social skills that have opened up a world of possibilities. What began as a simple hobby is now shaping the way he thinks about the future.
Franciszek created his artwork during a Helium workshop. Franciszek lives with type one diabetes. He’s done a great job of learning to manage it – following his eating schedule, tracking his blood sugar and taking insulin – but it was hard sometimes, not to feel a little alone with it.
‘’It could be lonely,’’ his mum Agnieszka says. ‘’When you think you’re the only one with this condition, and dealing with a sickness that not everyone would understand.’’
